Job functions
As a DevOps Team Lead, you will be accountable for the team’s output and growth. At Vacasa, Team Leads manage engineers and are hands-on contributors. You will help design, implement, maintain and improve infrastructure (in the broadest sense) for dozens of services, keeping a business focus and high standards of quality.
Help design solutions and implement best practices for supporting the lifecycle of several teams’ services, from project structure, to building, deploying, and releasing
Create procedures that encourages automation, standardisation and consistency across several services and teams
Keep security and scalability as one of the main concerns of every decision
Align yours and your team’s actions (together with your fellow Software Engineer Leads) with the department values of: high delivery rate (speed) and quality
Work closely with other central teams like: Central DevOps, Security Team and Database reliability teams
Maintain and improve the incident report management process, so the amount and severity of incidents are reduced and the efficiency when dealing with them increased
Explore new technologies and validate concepts to help your team choose the right tool for the job
Review your team’s work and provide recommendations via code reviews and discussion
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements:
+3 years of experience maintaining infrastructure on AWS
+3 DevOps or infrastructure engineering role
+2 years of experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform
Fluency in both written and spoken English
Experience writing Infrastructure as Code
Experience with Docker and at least one container orchestration system (i.e. Swarm, Fargate, Rancher, Kubernetes)
Proficient in at least one programming language (PHP, Python, Typescript)
Strong working knowledge of databases (SQL & NoSQL)
Experience with automated deployment and integration tooling such as Jenkins, CircleCI, and/or GitHub
A solid understanding of build/release processes and continuous delivery
Knowledge of operational observability tools like Datadog
An affinity for documentation and process
Extensive experience working on software projects together with software development teams
Adept at facilitating technical discussions that lead to informed decisions
Experience or enthusiasm to mentor engineers
Desirable skills:
Completed a B.S./M.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Experience building serverless architectures
Experience in the hospitality or travel industry
